Every Tranquil Blanket starts with one person in West Bengal India, spinning cotton into yarn with a hand-cranked Charkha wheel. Hand-loomed Khadi fabric is an ancient textile tradition, celebrated by Mahatma Ghandi. It’s naturally cool in summer and warm in winter.
Relax in the yard, spend a day at the beach, go camping, stargazing, and traveling. Diseases spread by insects are on the rise worldwide. This lightweight blanket will be your sanctuary.

In a remote village, local artisans have revived the textile tradition of making Khadi cotton by hand. Mahatma Ghandi promoted this ancient technique as means of self-sufficiency during the freedom struggle on the Indian subcontinent. It starts by spinning cotton with a hand-cranked Charkha wheel. The fabric is then hand-loomed and hand-dyed. The resulting fabric stays cool in summer and warm in winter.
This video was created by Palash Das, who has been instrumental in bringing Khadi production back to this village. It has revitalized the local economy and provides livelihoods for scores of people. Pang Wangle partners with Mr. Das to create our Tranquil Blankets with Insect Shield® bug repellent. The fabric is soft, lightweight, and cozy. We are honored to support the renewal of this tradition and we will be adding more Khadi products coming soon!
