At Pang Wangle, we love hemp—and for good reason. It’s the star fiber in our Breezy Hemp Pants, and honestly, it deserves the spotlight. Hemp is one of the most renewable and eco-friendly fabrics on the planet. It grows fast, needs far less water than cotton, and doesn’t rely on harsh chemical pesticides. It’s gentle on the Earth—and on you.

Even better? Hemp fabric is naturally breathable, durable, and has antimicrobial properties. It helps keep you fresh, even in punishing heat or on a bug-filled trail. It’s built for comfort, sustainability, and a life outdoors.

And now, we’ve got yet another reason to love with this wonder plant.

Hemp Seed Oil and Malaria Relief

Recent research by IND HEMP and the National Hemp Association has uncovered an exciting new use for hemp: helping in the global fight against malaria.

Turns out, hemp seed oil—yes, from the same plant that gives us that breezy, breathable fiber—is packed with essential fatty acids like Omega-3 and Omega-6. And these nutrients may do more than support heart and brain health; they could actually help weaken malaria parasites in the body.

So, How Does It Work?

Hemp seed oil’s unique nutritional profile may help:

  • Disrupt the parasite’s lifecycle: Certain fatty acids in the oil can induce oxidative stress that may interfere with malaria parasite growth.

  • Reduce inflammation: Malaria often triggers intense inflammatory responses. Hemp seed oil contains Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA), a powerful anti-inflammatory, which could help reduce symptoms and improve outcomes.

  • Support immune function: By nourishing the body with vital fats, hemp seed oil might boost overall resilience against infection.

A Natural, Sustainable Approach

What makes this especially exciting is that hemp is sustainable and accessible—it grows in diverse climates and can thrive with minimal inputs. That makes it a promising crop for malaria-endemic regions, offering both a health boost and an economic opportunity.

We're Not Surprised... Hemp Always Shows Up

We’ve long believed in the power of hemp—as a breathable, eco-friendly fabric for travel, or providing the perfect base for Insect Shield® technology that keeps bugs at bay (no bug spray required). So it’s no surprise to us that it’s now showing promise in global public health.

As always, we’ll be cheering on this research and continuing to use hemp to bring you better, more thoughtful adventure gear.
